Löckermoos High Mountain Moorland

Meet at the sports pitches in Gosau. From here we travel for about an hour by Gosau land train up to the grindstone quarries. During the trip you will hear lots of interesting stories about Gosau’s history.

The walk begins by the quarriers‘ huts, and we follow an easy woodland trail up to this tiny lake in an area of high mountain moorland – the Löckersee. From here we continue to the "Grubalmen" and the "Wildfrauenloch" karst cave. The walk ends at the well-known Gosau grindstone hole where quarrying began in the 15th century. After the walk we enjoy delicious refreshments, including home made cake. Afterwards, return by land train back down to the Gosau Valley.
